• This is the site of the church built in 1888, the first to be built following the lifting of the ban on Christianity in the Meiji Era. The site is located beside Sakitsu Suwa Shrine, where Hidden Christians had secretly offered prayers during the ban. The church served as a stronghold for the Christian faith until 1934, when the present Sakitsu Church was constructed. At the site of the first Sakitsu Church, stone walls and a convent building constructed in the era between the mid-1950s and the mid-1960s still remain today.
