・In 1619, Pope Paul V sent an encouraging letter, together with the blessing of the year of Jubilee, to Japanese followers. In 1620, followers in various places sent letters expressing their thanks to the Pope.
・The letter sent from Shimabara Peninsula is considered, because of its content, to have been written under the leadership of Nakaura Jurião, who in those days was the priest for the area amid the severe persecution of Christians.
・At present, a copy of the letter has been kept in Catholic Shimabara Church, and the original possessed by the Vatican Library.
