Omura Jail was created to imprison special criminals, such as foreigners, by order of the Nagasaki magistrate in 1648. Christians were also transferred here from Suzuta Jail. At the time of Kori Kuzure (large-scale arrests of Christians in Kori) in 1657, Christians were imprisoned in Omura Jail. In Koba Kuzure in 1867, some Christians were thrown into a jail for Chinese criminals on the same site.
