Site of Kubizuka (burial mound for heads)

・The site of Kubizuka (burial mound for heads) is related to the 1657 Christian persecution incident known as “Kori Kuzure” (large-scale arrests of Christians in Kori), in which 603 Christians hiding in Kori Village in the Omura Domain were found and arrested.
・This is said to be a place where the heads of the 131 Christians martyred in the Kori Kuzure incident were buried.
・It is situated 500 meters away from Dozuka, the burial place of the decapitated bodies of the executed Christians. The heads and bodies were buried separately in fear that the head and the body could be reconnected by Christian magic.
・On the site now stands a monument in honor of the martyrs.
