Site of martyrdom “Senninzuka”

・The mass grave of Senninzuka is one of the places to which a mikoshi, or portable shrine, makes a visit in the Gion Festival and the annual festival of Hime Shrine, which is the guardian deity of the Tachiura area.
・Until 2002, the religious events “Kazedome-no-Gandate” and “Kazedome-no-Ganjoju” had been held in Yamada Village in the early summer and fall of every year, in which persons in the positions of “ojiiyaku” and “oyajiyaku” of the Underground Christians visited Nakaenoshima Island to perform a sacred water-drawing ritual.
・Whenever they returned from Nakaenoshima and held a ritual event at an accommodation in Tachiura, they made an offering to the small shrine of Senninzuka and the deity Ebisu-sama of Hime Shrine.
