Site of Hoshoji Temple (priest’s house)

When Omura Sumitada, who had been baptized, demolished temples and shrines within his domain in 1574, he left only Hoshoji Temple intact to be used as a priest’s house, and constructed a large church on the side. The body of Sumitada was buried here, and Nakibisu-yama, which was believed to be his grave, remained here until World War II.
