・A traditional Japanese house built in around 1880 has been renovated and used as a tourist information center. The former owner of the old house was Hisakajima Island’s long-established family of Fujiwara, who gave shelter to Hidden Christians or let them escape during the time of the incident called the “Roya-no-Sako Martyrdom.”
・The house today serves as a base for disseminating information about the island, which has been designated as an important cultural landscape and a World Heritage Site, as well as the tourist information center, to promote regional development.
・At the center, there are panels providing an easily understandable explanation about the attractions of Hisakajima Island.
・In addition, there is a place to have a rest while viewing a tasteful inner garden.
・Visitors can also enjoy a leisurely meal, for which advance reservation is required.
