The site of the jail in which Christians living on Hisakajima Island were imprisoned after Goto Kuzure (large-scale arrests of Christians in the Goto Islands) later came to be called “Roya-no-Sako.” Today, on the site of the jail stands the Monument of Faith, on which the names of martyrs are engraved, a charnel house containing some of their ashes, a monument of the site of the jail, and a memorial church.
