• In 1853, a Christian family from Kishiku Village cultivated the land of Shigejiki, and later many Christians gathered in this area.
• Christians who underwent and endured the crackdown, persecution and robbery that took place in the Meiji Era built their first church in 1919 in a different place from the present location.
• In 1943, the church was destroyed by fire but it was reconstructed. However, the church was demolished due to the construction of a dam, causing many residents to move to another place.
• In 1974, the present church was built in a high place at the end of a dense shrubbery mountain path beside Shigejiki Dam. Now that over 100 years have passed since the construction of the first church, the present church, which is now closed, quietly remains.
