In 1971, a statue of St. John Goto, one of the 26 saints of Japan, was erected on the site of Mizunoura Jail (the residence of Chokata), overlooking Mizunoura Port. Stones from the parish of Mizunoura have been placed at the foot of the statue’s pedestal.
