Site of Dozuka (burial mound for headless bodies)

・The site of Dozuka (burial mound for headless bodies) is related to the 1657 Christian persecution incident known as “Kori Kuzure” (large-scale arrests of Christians in Kori), in which 603 Christians hiding in Kori Village of the Omura Domain were found and arrested.
・This is said to be a place where the decapitated bodies of the 131 Christians executed in the Kori Kuzure incident were buried.
・It is situated 500 meters away from Kubizuka, the burial place for the heads of executed Christians.
・The heads and bodies were buried separately in fear that the head and the body could be reconnected by Christian magic.
・In a bamboo grove a short distance away now stands a prayer statue as a monument in honor of the martyrs.
